Program objective

These grants are intended to enable State educational agencies to design, develop, and implement statewide, longitudinal data systems to efficiently and accurately manage, analyze, disaggregate, and use individual student data, consistent with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 and to facilitate analyses and research to improve student academic achievement and close achievement gaps.

    No new competition will be made in 2016. Funds will support continuation costs of FY 2015 awards, as well as activities to improve data quality, coordination, and use.     The Department published a Notice Inviting Applications on June 19, 2019. FY 2019 funds were used to make 28 new awards in FY 2020, as well as to support contracts to improve data quality, coordination, and use at the local, State, and national levels.

  5. 2020

    Funds were used to support grant continuation costs and for contracts to improve data coordination, quality, and use at the local, State, and national levels.

  6. 2021

    Funds will be used to support the grants that were awarded in FY 2020, as well as for contracts to improve data coordination, quality, and use at the local, State, and national levels.

  7. 2022

    Funds will be used to support the grants that were awarded in FY 2020, as well as for contracts to improve data coordination, quality, and use at the local, State, and national levels.

  8. 2023

    In Fiscal Year (FY) 2023, we awarded 39.6 million in project grants and 6 million in contracts. These numbers include funds that were appropriated in FYs 22 and 23.

  9. 2024

    In Fiscal Year (FY) 2024, we awarded 42.8 million in project grants and 5.8 million in contracts. These numbers include funds that were appropriated in FYs 23 and 24.
