Program objective

The purpose of the program is to support efforts to: (1) improve the quality, validity, and reliability of State academic assessments; (2) measure student academic achievement through the use of multiple measures from multiple sources; (3) develop or improve models to measure and assess student progress or growth; (4) develop or improve assessments for English learners, including assessments of English language proficiency or assessments of academic content in languages other than English; (5) develop or improve assessments for children with disabilities, including alternate assessments aligned to alternate academic achievement standards; and (6) develop and use comprehensive assessment instruments, such as performance- and technology-based assessments, computer adaptive assessments, or extended performance task assessments that improve assessment ability to measure critical thinking, writing and problem solving skills.
