Program objective

The objective is to support States in developing a methodology for determining open recalls on motor vehicles, informing owners and lessees of the open recalls at the time of registration, and evaluating through the analysis of completed recalls the performance of the notification program.

    Since inception, state motor vehicle administrators have notified owners or leases that 6.3 million vehicles have been identified with having at least one open recall. During this time, over 1.4 million vehicles with open recalls were remedied during this time.
