The goal of the Sudan and South Sudan Assistance Program is to advance U.S. interests tied to support a Sudan and South Sudan which are at peace with themselves and their neighbors; a peaceful, political resolution to the civil war in South Sudan; a peaceful, political resolution to the conflict in the Darfur region of Sudan; accountability for gross human rights violations and abuses committed during Sudan’s and South Sudan’s civil wars; and the promotion of open and transparent media in South Sudan.
