Program objective

To fund technical studies to improve methods for detecting and controlling lead-based paint hazards in housing. The purpose of the Lead Technical Studies program is to improve our knowledge of lead-based paint related health hazards, and to improve or develop new hazard assessment and control methods.

    The program has provided answers to complex questions on which policy decisions have been made, for example, revising the OLHCHH’s lead hazard reduction grant protocols to include cleaning and clearing of porches, when existing, and , the OLHCHH’s post-project room cleanup and clearance sampling protocols recommendations to emphasize perimeter sampling.
