Program objective

The goal of this listing is to support agreements with organizations, institutions, or individuals throughout the world to conduct activities related to the sanitary and phytosanitary standard-setting activities of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), including international outreach and education, in order to promote and support the development of a viable and sustainable global agricultural system; antihunger and improved international nutrition efforts; and increased quantity, quality, and availability of food.

    Support reviews and convene two sessions for the development of Health Based Guidance Values and relevant maximum permitted limits in food to support the Codex Committee on Food Additives and the Codex Committee on Contaminants in Food.

    In FY23 grants expanded the work of FAO by better equipping new experts with the knowledge and understanding on principles, modalities, and technical requirements used by the Committee in the risk assessment of residues of veterinary drugs in food and for the establishment of Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) and is offered in English, French, and Spanish. The project intends to provide additional resources to increase capacity while also aiming to broaden the current pool of experts to include greater geographic representation.
