Provide federal financial assistance for the establishment, implementation and operation of Emergency Notifications Systems (aka Reverse 911) – implement IPAWS capable systems that provide emergency notifications to public parties in the event of the emergency. Establishment of systems that support the dissemination of alerts related to severe weather events, natural disasters, Amber Alerts, public safety threats, and other critical situations, helping to enhance public safety and save lives. Funding opportunities could include multi-year software subscriptions, training and capacity building, certification requirements, public education and outreach as well as other requirements needed in establishing these critical programs.

Once established, the primary accomplishment (s) of this grant program is in operation would be to provide financial support to States, Tribes, and units of Local Government for establishing and operating modern emergency notification systems. These grants will arm public safety organizations with the resources needed to deploy advanced emergency notification systems, enhancing the delivery of critical information within specific geographic areas. The overarching goal is to bolster community resilience and public safety through the use of technology to improve the dissemination of crucial information during emergencies or disaster situations. Increasing effectiveness and efficiency of emergency communication: The program will provide investments in modern alerting technologies spanning numerous locales and population segments. For FY25, it is expected that the agency will receive in excess of 50 applications from applicants across the country.
