Program objective

The Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP) is available to nonprofit U.S. agricultural trade organizations, nonprofit state regional trade groups (SRTGs), U.S. agricultural cooperatives, and state agencies and is intended to foster healthy exports and market diversification by encouraging the development, maintenance, and expansion of diverse commercial export markets for United States agricultural commodities and products.

    An independent study of the impact of the FAS market development programs conducted in 2021 by IHS Markit found that the programs were highly effective at generating an extremely high return on investment and determined that the US agricultural export value increased by $24.5 over 1977-2019 for every one dollar invested in export market development.
