Program objective

To help supplement the diets of low-income persons by making funds available to States for storage and distribution costs incurred by The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) State agencies and local organizations, such as soup kitchens, food banks, and food pantries, including faith-based organizations, in providing food assistance to needy persons.

    In Fiscal Year 2024, a total of $80,000,000 was allocated to State agencies in appropriated administrative funds. Additionally, $773,577 from FY 2023 recoveries and $67,074,450 in food to administrative conversions were allocated to TEFAP State agencies. Lastly, in FY 2024, 27 State agencies received Farm to Food Bank grants for a total of $3,772,000.
